About us - Keep Shropshire Warm is a new countywide initiative. Funded by DEFRA, Keep Shropshire Warm works in conjunction with The Shropshire Partnership, the Shropshire Energy Efficiency Advice Centre and all Shropshire Local Authorities. Keep Shropshire Warm, which is managed by The Marches Energy Agency, seeks to identify households who are struggling to afford a reasonable standard of heating through innovative training of relevant professionals and tailored marketing campaigns. Through effective energy efficiency advice, schemes including grants to help finance affordable warmth measures for a household and self help measures we will endeavour to tackle the fuel poverty within these households. We will offer help and advice to everyone regardless of their circumstances.
Keep Shropshire Warm: The Successes
Launched in January 2008, KSW has witnessed the following successes:
- 5702 Households assisted with affordable warmth measures
- £826790 worth of retained economic benefit from household energy bill savings
- 6842.4t/CO2 saved/year
- £3.1million worth of grant funding accessed
- A further 1440 households offered affordable warmth advice, benefit health checks and guidance as to winter fuel payments
Aims -
• Our aim is to reduce the number of households who find it a financial struggle to heat their homes to a healthy level and may be living in fuel poverty.
• We aim to significantly reduce fuel poverty in Shropshire for vulnerable households by 2010 and for all households by 2016.
